Brian Kennedy, one of Irelands most loved and successful ambassadors of music, is returning to Australian shores for a national tour in March 2010, including highly anticipated appearances at the 2010 Port Fairy Folk Festival.
Brians latest concerts come on the back of his 2008 album, Interpretations, and will no doubt follow the now established local tradition with Australian audiences embracing Brians previous shows over two highly successful tours.
In August 2009, Brian was honoured at the annual Irelands Music Awards ceremony the only national Irish Traditional, Folk and Celtic music awards ceremony in Ireland taking out the top prize for Best Male Vocalist.
Brian Kennedys last tour to Australia saw the Adelaide Street Press exclaim, Brian Kennedy possesses such a soulful, angelic voice that he can reduce grown people to tears.
Meanwhile, John Shand of the Sydney Morning Herald said about Brians version of the traditional Irish classic, Carrickfergus, It is hard to imagine a better voice to sing this glorious lament than Kennedys, keening like uilleann pipes over gentle finger picking. It is the ethereal upper register that so sets this voice apart, but the truly remarkable aspect of it is how seamlessly he moves between his natural tenor and his falsetto.
The latest Brian Kennedy album, Interpretations is his 10th album, and unusually for such a prolific songwriter includes versions of 13 of the most popular chart-toppers of the past 30-odd years. From Gaye to Galileo, Brown-Eyed Girl to You Are So Beautiful, to name a few, Brian makes these songs his own with some surprising and unique results.
Of the new album, Irish Music Magazine said, Interpretations is a celebration of quality and talent from one of Irelands most prolific singers a true artist.
Brian Kennedy was first spotted by Belfast-born, international legend, Van Morrison, and he joined Vans renowned Blues and Soul World Tour for a period of six years, performing with some of the legends of the music industry Joni Mitchell, Ray Charles, Bob Dylan, and many others.
Brian is critically acclaimed as a singer/songwriter, radio/television presenter, and more recently as an author of considerable worth, having produced a series of short stories and two novels (with a third on the way) - not surprisingly, for a lyricist of his calibre.

We will have meetup meetings for new people. This will be an orientation with a presentation of all that we can do an all that we can help you do. If we are not doing what you want to do, we will be very open to taking it to the message boards and the members of the team that meet. Once people know what they want to do, we will be having Meetups around that interest once a week or more and get to work doing it on other days. And Once every couple of weeks we will have a Meetup with everyone to worship, to learn, to grow and to be a great team. We won't be meeting on a Sunday as a church, but as we grow we will have a weekly meeting rather than every two weeks. I want to train people in what I know and I want all that know other things to train people in what they know. There will be enough training to get people started and then as they join their allotted teams, they will be mentored on the job. We will create whole courses and bring whatever is needed for each individual to grow, so that they can reach their full potential in God. I want to build a community, a community of love, respect and honor. I want no doctrines to separate us, we are all saved by Jesus and his Blood sets us free, and His Holy Spirit gives us our fruit and the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. Arguing and fighting and gossiping are for people who are not busy serving God and fealing passed over and left out. You won't have a problem getting busy, nor will we ever have as many people as we need to do the job and not need you. With your ideas,, your support and your willingness to serve God, with your time and money, there is no limit to how big we can grow, and how often we meet. This is not a place to get fat with teaching. This is a place to be taught, equipped, given the back up support with admin and tools, and then launched into explosive production. If you can dream it, and we can see your dream, if you stay with us till we have the manpower and resources you will see that dream come alive. Relationships forged here, I hope may last a lifetime. There will be many types of meetups according to what you want to do, but as a body united in ministry we will seek to have a church like meeting once every two weeks and when we have enough momentum, once a week. I have got the use of a church hall for free that can seat up to 130 people and so we will have many conferences with key speakers coming from our member base. All people who want to learn can come. If at the end of the day, you don't think you are cut out for that, there is no loss. So come and we will start to meet up and form the vision, your vision and ours becoming one! We will do many social things together just to chill and build strong friendships. This will be so much fun for you if you want to get busy for God and see real world results from what you do! We will also conferences of teaching on the Word with themes and I expect many good preachers within our ranks will be eager to be one of the speakers at these! If you can think it, we can do it!
If youĂ?Â're looking for a strategy to grow your business through referrals and education, this could just what you have been looking for. Our business networking and education meetings are for like minded business owners who are interested in growing and developing their business. The meetings are held every 2 weeks for one and a half hours in a structured environment to network, learn and discuss new business tips, strategies and ideas.

Arts news: Edge of Elsewhere - Ground breaking arts initiative between Sydney Festival, Campbelltown Arts Centre and Gallery 4A to bring Western Sydney into focus.
In a ground breaking initiative, the Sydney Festival has developed a three-year partnership with Campbelltown Arts Centre and Gallery 4A to engage communities in Western Sydney and Sydney in contemporary art projects with artists across Asia and the Pacific.
Edge of Elsewhere is a key project for the Sydney Festival’s program for three consecutive years in 2010, 2011 and 2012, that will present work by artists that have been developed in partnership with Sydney’s communities in response to the cultural demographic of metropolitan and suburban Sydney. In 2010 the project is comprised of a major exhibition across two venues at Campbelltown Arts Centre and Gallery 4A, a 200 page publication, and a series of public programs including forums and artists’ talks.
Chinese artist Wang Jianwei, who is widely respected as one of the leading video and installation artists working today, will be prominently featured. Campbelltown Arts Centre has secured the loan of his major work ‘Hostage’ from his studio in Beijing and it’s showing will the first major appearance of Wang Jianwei’s work in Australia.
Also in the artistic line-up are: Brook Andrew (Australia), Arahmaiani (Indonesia), Richard Bell (Australia), YOUNG-HAE CHANG HEAVY INDUSTRIES (Korea), Dacchi Dang (Australia), Newell Harry (Australia), Shigeyuki Kihara (Aotearoa New Zealand), Kimsooja (Korea), Jun Nguyen-Hatsushiba (Vietnam), Lisa Reihana (Aotearoa New Zealand) and Khaled Sabsabi (Australia). Each of their artists are well known for extensive work as coordinators of complex artistic projects that have a performative cross-over in their work, and each will, in turn, invite artists and collaborators to develop new works with them in partnership with communities. These works will range from multi-media, installation, performative and more, plus all will explore and develop cross-cultural exchanges in relation to contemporary urban and suburban environments.

The March book is "A Fraction of the Whole" by an Australian author Steve Tolz. Here's a link to the SMH review http://www.smh.com.au/news/book-reviews/a-fraction-of-the-whole/2008/04/04/1207249438916.html The 710-page book so far received very mixed reviews from the book club members: some people thought it was unique and thought-provoking , while others thought it was pretentious and over the top. I am intrigued and really looking forward to reading it and then discussing it with you guys :) See you in March! Aly
Francis Crick: Who was the man who discovered DNA? Venue: Seymour Theatre Center, cnr of City Rd and Cleveland St, University of Sydney Darlington Cost $20 Adults/$15 Concession/ Bookings: Seymour Centre Box Office ph 02 9351 7940 or Click Here to book online. Professor Robert Olby, Research Professor, University of Pittsburgh USA Introduction by Professor Paul Griffiths, Professorial Research Fellow, University of Sydney. This richly illustrated lecture seeks to unearth the formative influences that shaped Francis Crick's career, his personality, and his extraordinary qualities as a scientist. Starting with his provincial upbringing, this analysis moves to London, the outbreak of World War II and the formative years in which he worked for the Royal Navy. What sources drew him to biology thereafter? How did he win respect in crystallography before discovering the structure of DNA ? What was the impact on him of his relationship and subsequent marriage to Odile Speed? Why was his relationship with Cambridge University ambivalent? How strong was his commitment to scientific humanism and how did it play out in his views on contemporary society and religious institutions? How did it shape his latter career as a Nobel laureate? Professor Robert Olby is currently Research Professor at the University of Pittsburgh USA. Formerly at the University of Leeds, UK, Robert Olby is a prominent historian of nineteenth and twentieth century biology, his special fields being genetics and molecular biology. Olby is a member of the History of Science Society and the International Academy of the History of Science. His best known works are The Origins of Mendelism (1966, 1985) and The Path to the Double Helix (1974, 1994), but he has published widely in historical journals, and more recently in Nature, Nature Reviews Genetics, and Endeavour. With his colleagues in Leeds he edited The Companion to the History of Modern Science (1990). He most recently published the first full-length biography of the late Dr. Francis Crick- Francis Crick: Hunter of lifeĂ?Â's secrets, with support from the National Science Foundation and the award of an Archives Fellowship at Churchill College, Cambridge. In this publication Olby chronicles Crick's life from his early studies in biophysics, to the discovery of the structure of DNA, and on to his later work in neuroscience and the nature of consciousness. This account is woven together with insights into his personal life gained through access to Crick's papers, family, and friends. For more information click HERE

No one knows. All the rash of literature in recent times from artists, scientists and theologians on the subject of consciousness finds its origin in this puzzle. Creating what has happened to one into an art form has one effect: it dissolves the barrier between the present and the past. You will never forget the first time you hear Elvira Fatykhova. Ever since her show-stopping Opera Australia debut as Manon in 2004, her shining coloratura and captivating stage presence have thrilled opera-goers. So it is with great joy that she is welcomed back to recreate her devastatingly moving portrayal of the tragic heroine Violetta in Elijah Moshinsky's handsome production of La traviata.
Violetta is the toast of Paris. Her parties are legendary, her beauty is much admired and her admirers queue up to pay their compliments. As for love, it has no real place in her life until the fateful day she meets Alfredo. Suddenly the good time girl finds herself wanting more than a light-hearted fling, but can she leave her past behind?
Performed in Italian with subtitles. Running time: two hours and fifty minutes including two twenty-minute intervals.
We’ve created two new packages combining The Essential Tour with a Sydney Highlights flight or for the ultimate experience - a Sydney Opera House Backstage Tour followed by a Sydney Secrets flight.
The Backstage Tour and Sydney Secrets
Your morning starts with the Backstage Tour. This intimate tour grants you exclusive access to areas normally reserved for the stars and their crew. Includes a full breakfast in the Green Room** - private domain of the performers.
Follow this with Sydney Secrets flight which encompasses Sydney’s beautiful Northern Beaches and the yachties’ paradise of Pittwater. After landing in Rose Bay, your water taxi will be waiting to take you from the aircraft back to Circular Quay.
The Essential Tour and Sydney Highlights
The Essential Tour takes you on an emotional journey, a story to rival any opera plot and explains how this miracle of architecture and engineering came into existence against impossible odds.
The Sydney Highlights Tour takes in the world-famous Bondi Beach and then completes a circuit of both the Harbour Bridge and Opera House before gently splashing back down to Rose Bay.
